I say that if you think moving to 1500 warheads each is disarmament,
you need to review your math.

Even if someone invents an amazing anti ballistic missle technology
that is 75% effective (and that would be a miracle), I don't think
either Russia or the US would like to be on the receiving end of 300+
missles that get through. Even with amazing first strike accuracy
(which doesn't take out missle subs) and a great defensive ABM
system, and a navy that can find and take out boomers, you still have
MAD. Does anyone think that either the US or Russia or China could
survive hits from say, a dozen nukes? One nuc in the atmosphere can
cause an EMP burst that would burn out most electronics in the US/
Russia/China (well one would cover most of continental US, not all). A
nuke on each major city would wipe out a lot of infrastructure.

We can both still toast each other and quite a bit of the rest of

Are you calling _Ronald Reagan_ a Surrender-Monkey?!?!

Ronald Reagan:

"A nuclear war cannot be won and must never be fought.
No matter how great the obstacles may seem, we must
never stop our efforts to reduce the weapons of war. We
must never stop at all until we see the day when nuclear
arms have been banished from the face of this Earth."

Well, Obama & Putin's puppet have one thing in common; their
respective nations are cold stony broke.

Of course they will agree to cut back on the expensive
munitions business, and then make money by flogging these to
Africa - as usual.

You are less than half right - as usual.

The initial effect of this agreement will be
to cause *greater* cost as the programme
of Dismantling and Verification is put into
place. The cost _savings_ will only kick in
after all that is done and the Maintenance
and Crew Manning are no longer needed.
Nuclear and Thermonuclear weapons are
_NOT_ flogged to South Africa, regardless
of whatever dark fantasies lurk in your wee
pickled Throwback Nazi brain.

It's the same deal Saint Reagan made, cutting Nuke weapons by 1/3rd.
Reagan also wanted to do away with all nukes, he gave a speech to that
effect when in China{he used a teleprompter to give it}
funny how things that were policies Republican were for when Reagan was in
are wrong now.

I already hit him with multiple quotes from Reagan
and his Stepford Wife two days ago. As usual, the
puling coward had nothing to say, and has been doing
his best to pretend he didn't see those Facts ever
since. Like most Rightards, he's merely capable of
spewing back Talking Points force-fed to him earlier

Another reason to be disappointed in Barack Obama. If I'm not mistaken, he
said that he thinks it's unlikely that all nuclear weapons will be gotten
rid of in his lifetime. Many people would regard Barack Obama as the most
powerful man in the world. No Abe Lincoln is he.

thousands of tons of napalm and high explosives is good enough for you?

As I understand it, it's worse than retaliation. In his nuclear posture
review, Obama reserves the right of a nuclear first-strike against states
that he considers not to be in compliance with the nuclear non-proliferation
treaty such as Iran and North Korea (though not Israel of course - they have
nukes but their government won't confirm it). A Martian would conclude that
Obama is making the world a more dangerous place.

If you know anything about US history, you would know that Lincoln was a
compassionate, progressive and has much more in common with today's liberal
Democrats than the current Republican party. The "Party of Lincoln" is
surely not the party of Palin, Gingrich, Perry, etc.

The dominant, ideological members of today's Republican party were
yesterday's southern Democrats, the ones that short-circuited southern
reconstruction after the Civil War, enacted poll taxes, and lynched blacks.
Southern Democrats moved en masse to the Republican party in the 1960s and
1970s. Some of these are the same folks suggesting that states secede from
the Union. I guess they have pretty short memories.

Since you asked, that hopey, changey thing is working out pretty good.

Southern Democrats moved en masse to the Republican party in the 1960s and
1970s.

Since you asked, that hopey, changey thing is working out pretty good.
