This great writer, one of the few who really did Marathi literature
proud, passed away early Tuesday, August 28 th at the age of 74. His
Bangarwadi is a classic of Marathi literature and his short essays on
the flora and fauna of the jungles of Maharashtra were simply
outstanding. In a true sense, this loss will be hard to fill in.

Indeed, his literature I would call was very entertaining and lucid.
He was a enthusiastic hunter too. Its a great loss to marathi
"sahitya" He would be long remembered...

He was also a good artist (water color). His paintings of rural Maharashtra are
superb.

Hi,
In their issue of 29th August, esakal.com had covered this sad news
completely. It reproduced Nama PariTa, and VMD's illustrations for "bangar
waaDi". It had given reactions of many from the field of literature. It is
worth the visit.
