The "Berliner Zeitung" reports that the fire department rescued a
wheel-chair bound Ethiopian man on Thursday. The 36-year old man
who was injured in the war in Ethiopia in 1978 and had lived in
East Germany since 1979 is the vice-chair of the Handicapped
Foundation of Germany (ABiD). He and his family have been threatened
since the summer of 1992, when one evening a neighbor rang the
bell and announced that he had "become a Nazi", and he would throw
a hand grenade in the apartment if the children didn't stop playing
ball in the courtyard. The neighbor once tried to break down the
door (the police came, but didn't do anything since the neighbor
had left) and the tires of the wheelchair have been knifed seven
times. The family has registered all of the incidents with the
police, with no effect. On Thursday a new, 3-week old wheel-chair
"burst" into flames and was reduced to ashes and twisted metal. The
police needed 6 hours to respond after the fire department notified
them. A "misunderstanding", the police chief says.

The 9 neo-Nazis that escaped from prison are back under lock and
key. The Berliner Zeitung has an article about the prison, one
out of three prisoners is in for a right-wing crime. The paper does
not mention how many are in the prison all together.

The radio reports this morning that a group of armed skinheads
burst into a restaurant in Sachsen-Anhalt and "shot up" the
place, 4 persons were seriously injured.
