Reshuffle in Bangladesh Army

5 Area Commanders changed, 5 Brigadiers promoted
A major reshuffle took place in the Bangladesh Army yesterday. Five
Area Commanders have been changed while same number of brigadiers have
been promoted to the rank of major general. Several other changes have
been made in the existing positions, according to sources.
The five Brigadiers who have been made major general are: Brigadier
Jiban Kanai Das, Brig Abdul Matin, Brig Nazrul Islam, Brig Kazi Ashfaq
Ahmed and Brig Rafiqul Islam. Rafiqul Islam is the only member of the
erstwhile Rakkhi Bahini to the promoted to the position of major
general. He will continue to retain his present position of Commander
of the elite Special Security Force. Newly promoted major general
Nazrul Islam, who was the acting DGFI chief will now be fully in charge
of the department. Major General Ashfaq Ahmed will take over the
Jessore Division replacing major general Jamil D Ahsan who is going to
be made director general of Bangladesh Institute of International and
Strategic Studies (BIISS), Newly made major general Abdul Matin is
serving as defence atache in Delhi and is expected to return home
shortly.
Major general Imamuzzaman Chowdhury, Bir Bikram, who is the PSO of the
armed Forces Division, has been appointed area commander, Bogra. Major
general Sayeed Ahmed, Bir Pratik, area commander, Savar, has been
appointed as the new PSO, Bir pratik, adjutant general, has been
appointed as the new area commnader, Savar, Major general Hasan Mashud
Chowdhury, who was the CGS, has been apointed the commandant of the
National Defence College Major general Mohammad Harunur Rashid, Bir
Pratik, who is area commander, Mymensingh, has been appointed the new
CGS, Major general Ahsan Nazmul Amin, area commander, Rangpur, has been
apointed the new adjutant general, Major general ALM Fazlur Rahman,
GOC, Comilla, has been appointed the new chief of the BDR.
Brig Zahirul Alam has been made oficiating GOC, Mymensingh, while Brig
Abdul Wadood has been made the officiating GOC, Comilla. (The Daily
