I've been going over a lot of the FAQ question pages recently and
decided that the time has come to get rid of the numbering things. The
numbers were a feature of the old usenet faqs like the C programming
FAQ or something but they don't seem to benefit the web page version
FAQ any more. I gave a little thought to renaming the whole document
"Japanese language FAQ" but didn't have the courage to follow through
with that split, but anyway the old usenet style numbering I think can
be dispensed. The only place I have kept the numbers is on the top
page and on the "Thank you" page where using the full titles turned it
into a huge mess. I might backtrack on this later but anyway.

I've also started to remove the tables from the faq as seen here:

The table format is pretty cramped and hard to read, and also makes it
hard to add discussions of the various things. So the "list" pages are
gradually going to transmogrify into the above kind of format. These
are generated from the same base data so the tables can be restored if
it really becomes necessary but frankly the pages seem better without
them, and it also means I can add some illustrations or other fun
stuff to the pages and make them a bit less boring.

I've also added kana to the following page:

This page now has image sizes so it doesn't "jerk" on loading;

Generally all the images in the FAQ have sizes.

/afaq/difficult-pronunciation.html

has a picture of comet Hyakutake.

There are a few more things but I'll stop before this gets really tedious!

Further to this I've removed the underlining and italicization via <em> on the internal links within the FAQ. I've also changed the top navigation slightly and removed the underlining on the top page.
