Is it possible to make a new Manifest (in addition to Stable/Testing/Unstable)?

Hello again all,

Simian has been working just fine and dandy for a while now. We have successfully deployed it to most of our clients (except the one behind the proxy, we're testing a regular munki setup there) and all is well.

I am wondering though, is it possible to create new Manifests on the server?

I'm interested in the idea of making a client/location specific manifest. I.E. Stable/Testing/Client_Office_1/Client_office_2 that sort of thing. I do not see that as an option in the server, and suspect it is not in the code, but it cant hurt to ask.

Thanks for the hard work!

Victor,

While it would be technically possible by modifying the code, it would likely not be an easy extension.

Such a use case can be solved by using Dynamic Manifests.  Place items in the regular unstable/testing/stable catalogs, but in no manifests by default, then add manifest modifications for particular users, hosts, tags (groups of hosts), os versions, or (as defined in the client configuration) sites: https://code.google.com/p/simian/wiki/DynamicManifests

Does this help?

Justin,

Thanks. I'll look into that.
