All,

Thought to share with you the seeds of change that appear to be taking root down our way on the Far South Coast of NSW

Bega Valley Shire Council has made a significant leap forward in it's thinking, I believe, with the release of it's draft economic strategy document...it places a heavy emphasis on Digital, Tech and Entrepreneurship...and in comparison with previous strategies (around 2009)...the shift in thinking is enormous.

Cynics may say that writing strategy papers is the easy bit...it's implementation that counts...and sure the proof will be in the pudding...but although I personally know very little about how local government works...I gather strategy documents carry some weight as there is a degree of retrospective accountability to them as the years progress.

And, I believe, the document also provide the regions ICT professionals and entrepreneurs some additional thrust in seeking greater support from local government in establishing the new economic wave.

I think it is a significant change for the better to our circumstances in this region...and will increase our attractiveness to the growing number of Skilled SeaChangers contemplating moving to the region...some of whom may may even be reading this very email.

Good times and a nice counterpoint to yesterdays article by Tony Featherston in the SMH lamenting local governments general performance in regard to StartUps - http://www.smh.com.au/small-business/managing/the-venture/why-arent-councils-supporting-startups-20150729-gimr0o.html
