Anyone in Australia know anything like this prior art before 1999

A quick google threw this up:

http://www.austracker.com/AboutUs.html

The founders of Austracker were involved in the initial development and delivery of tracking solutions in the early 1990's for a customer with a national fleet of vehicles.

Not sure who the customer was -- hopefully not Jones.

Any use?

And another one here:

The Beginnings

Boral, understanding their customers needs for enhanced delivery capability and service conceived, in the early to mid 1990's, a system for the management of customer orders, tracking of vehicles and recommendation of next delivery vehicle for each customer order and delivery. Boral quickly began developing a real-time vehicle tracking and information system that promised significant benefits to the company's customers, and reduction in operating costs

1996 Trunked Radio & GPS

1996 saw the implementation of this new concept of systemnatically managing the dispatch and delivery of products to end customers. The system based on GPS data over two way radio was installed into Boral's Victorian metropolitan concrete operation in late 1996 early 1997, with it's quarry delivery fleet following on immdiately

Hi Dean,

Interesting read, I hadn't heard of this one before. From what I can see it looks like the EFF's request for prior art[1] was in early 2012, and ArrivalStar has since[2] backed down going after public agencies.

I used to work for Transmax[3] which among other things developed bus tracking and reporting on variable passenger information signs around Brisbane, I know at least the GPS based system was in around 2005 and the RFID tag system was much earlier but not sure if as far back as 1999, at that time the company was part of the Queensland Transport Department.

I don't pretend to understand patents, but won't this patent expire in just over 3 years thereby preventing this patent troll going after people, especially since they can't claim damages since they have no product? I also haven't heard them trying to go after someone well funded like Uber who would be "breaching" their patent.
