Adding text / input to shinydashboard navbar

Hi,

I would like to do something similar to the navbar in shinydashboard as described in https://github.com/daattali/advanced-shiny#navbar-add-text, where text / inputs are added to the navigation bar in navBarPage. In the picture below the area where I would like to add the text / inputs is marked with red:

Can this be achieved with reasonable amount of HTML / CSS?
