R 3. 2. 1. patched has no grid package

Hi Everyone, 

I am using gridExtra, specifically grid.arrange, and setting the height and widths through the unit function. However, I no longer have access to the unit function (found in the grid package) because of the version R I have. Any idea how I can set the width and height to units?
