help with the json api

Im faced with a small issue with a sort of a treeview  display on a web page.
Users can add  nodes to the tree, but currently its not collaborative, and views
are bound to get out of syc if not wrong all together. The treeview is  generated
from  json data, (and only one field in the json will need to be OT'ed),  can the
json api help?  im on  0.7,  but i do not want the document to be persistent at all,
as i  already keep track of it else where, how best to propagate changes to all
interested viewers?
