This Wednesday at 0800 I'm leading another commute through the SF watershed. 15 rider cap, email +1s to get on the list. So far we have Peter C, Josh G, and Alex P.
Meet: 0755 Portola Gate so we can enter at 8 (the earliest we’re allowed in). This is the locked gate at the southernmost part of the GGNRA Sweeney Ridge site. Getting there is up to you. Callanated Skyline is the way most folks took last time (flyby: http://goo.gl/aGDSX3). Bart from San Bruno is another option: just take Sneath Ln all the way to the end. Leaving with extra time for mechanicals makes Sweeney Meadow loops an option beforehand. Sweeney Ridge itself, starting at the end of Sneath, is the largest climb. It’s paved and when you reach the restroom at the top, take the fireroard to the left straight to Portola Gate.
Equipment: CX is ideal. Hardtail mountain bike would also work. Road bikes aren’t good here due to some gravelly, steep climbs & descents. Terrain is 8-10 foot dirt service road along Fifield-Cahill ridge with amazing views and no other trail users. No water on the trail but there’s plenty of restrooms: one every couple miles.
Style: NRLB. Periodic regroups at vistas & intersections. Since we all have to leave as a group, allow extra buffer time in planning. Last ride we exited the watershed at Cemetery Gate at 9am.
After: We pop out at 92 and Skyline. The group then splits with some descending 92 to Cañada and some continuing to climb up Skyline to Kings.

+1, though I've been on the first two watershed rides and happy to give the spot to someone who hasn't.

Actually, I'll intercept at San Jose and Randall.
I'm planning on bringing my full suspension mtb and riding skeggs on the way down, in case anyone else doesn't have anything to do in the morning and would like to join.
