Any tips on how to navigate the new configuration on Airport Blvd in Burlingame? My brain was not working this morning so made a bit of a hash of it.

I think it's best to take the left turn light at the 101 exit/entrance before all the construction into that motel on the left.  Then just stay on the sidewalk which they appear to be keeping open and make the left onto Airport.

I did that and had to dismount and slip under the yellow tape so it did not seem that they were keeping a bike route open though the construction.

looking at a map of the construction plan it sort of appears you are supposed to take the left (that looks like getting on the freeway) and wrap back around to the left.

I guess I'll find out tomorrow.   The other option I guess is go over on milbrae ave, take rollins and then cross the unholy shitshow they've made of broadway to the ped bridge.  Thought I don't know what it looks like.

Also seems like a bad option, I guess I'll find out tomorrow.

I mean, take the RIGHT, then loop around to the left.   should be exciting.

I just sent the entire thread to Burlingame Traffic Engineer and Public Works....

Our Bike commuters can't exactly figure out the Airport/Bayshore route thru the Caltrans Broadway Construction.  Is there any way you can alleviate the situation ASAP?  I've copied the posting, but it's probably easier to read it here:

Thx for that. I think we have a new hair-ball.

The route from the posted map works fine.   It isn't ideal, but that section has been terrible for a while, get in the airport road only lane, follow the road around.   No dedicated bike section, but it's fairly short and there are traffic lights.   At least it's paved properly, not like that metal plated pothole covered disaster.

We rode the sidewalk on the left side this morning. It worked fine, but might not always be an option.

1pm response today from the traffic engineer:

Thank you for your email.  I went out and took a look at the bicycle access with the Phase 4 temporary alignment.  I will talk to Augustine with a couple of suggestions, and using the pedestrian overpass to access the sidewalk along Bayshore (as commented on)  will be one of them.

This was my cross race style detour which included some dirt, and a barrier hike a bike.

Most people have probably figured this out by now, but when I did it today the easiest thing was to just stay in the right lane, and then at the light for the 101 on/off ramps, make a right on to what is basically the 101 off ramp.

It definitely feels weird to do this, and it's not very well marked, but they have temporarily changed that off ramp into a detour that goes under the Broadway overpass and takes you back around to Airport Blvd.

HAHA.. yeah I got all turned around there today when I found the sidewalk was closed. :( I think that Scott found the most creative solution.

I went up the ramp which turns to the right. At the light I took a left and got on the bridge that goes back over the highway. Not the easiest maneuver so maybe next time I will try another option.

Yes basically mine is take a left at the light, go behind the hotel and there is a dirt trail.

Yeah, get in the lane marked airport road.  veer to the right, follow the road around, as Peter suggests, and the construction web site suggests.
