There was some talk of a Half Moon Bay Way next week, and I'm open to mixing up the normal route.

Perhaps West Alpine or something else that I -- **gasp** -- haven't even heard of? Keith?

I would like to save Purisima for another day, which means more folks could join us... but open to suggestions.

Let's do 84, West Alpine and down Page.

The nice thing about Page is that Apple/Google folks can head off down Altamont (or Moody) for a pretty straight shot into their final destination:

+1 for sure, I love West Alpine.

Or for the Cupertino folks, descend Montebello Road after a little gravelly dirt off Page :)
For more pavement, take Montebello Rd off Page: https://www.strava.com/segments/610475
For hard-packed road-bikable dirt, take Canyon to Bella Vista: https://www.strava.com/segments/609165
Also, on the east side of Page between Canyon train & Montebello Rd is a handy water spigot.

I'm assuming you guys will go through the park from PPR? If so, I'll intercept on JFK right after the underpass at ~0605.

Ammon's suggestions sound tempting, so I'll probably veer off at the top of Page Mill since I'm heading that way.

Roughly how much time does this add on top of a regular Tunitas/Kings HMBW? I need to be in Sunnyvale by 11.

From junction of 1 and tunitas there is a cat 4 climb to stage rd, say 6 min, down stage to 84, 2 min, 7 miles up 84 to pescadero creek rd, wind blows from the west so should have a tail wind and avg at least 21 mph so 20 min, 3 min on pescadero crk and then 45 on west alpine. To go to Sunnyvale, I’d take ammons bonus and do the dirt section from page mill to montebello, prob 20ish min then 5 miles down montebello at 30ish mph. I’ve only climbed montebello and descended the dirt so those times are just edjucated guesses. Alternatively, you could go south on skyline to rt 9. I think it is about 5 miles and a bit more climbing though I don’t recall off the top of my head how long it takes to do that skyline section.

I'll intercept at the top of Sharp Park at 6.40ish (sound like the right time to you?)

So, measuring to 'loyola corners',

the regular tuniitas + Sand hill route is 100km, 1450m climbing
the regular tunitas +PV route is 101km, 1500m climbing
the lobitos/swett/84 route we did last week is 107km, 1650m
while the route of Stage/84/West Alpine/Page mill/Altamont is 109km, 1700m

So, should be very similar to the time of last week's ride, which got me to VMware around 9:50.

In any case, it's only about 7k longer but 250m more climbing than the regular route -- I think that should be doable by 11.

Yes, that sounds right.  I haven't seen us get to sharp park *before* 6:40, though we're usually there not long after - 6:45 is typical.   You could also consider rolling down to the bottom and waiting with Jordan there...

Yes, that's right.  See you there.

Thanks for the estimates. I don't think I want to risk it considering how slow I was on the climb on the last HMBW. I'll call a regular Skyline for tomorrow instead.

+1  For some variation. Will see how the legs are before deciding regular Skyline v HMBW options

Yeah, I might make a game-time decision before Sharp Park about whether to do HMBW + Montebello or Skyline with you + continue south on Junipero Sera/Foothill
