I'd like to ride to a vendor meeting tomorrow and take the train home.

Google gives me some options. Is there something better than the goog?

Thanks in advance,

bret

I don't know how Brokaw is but "bad" is my instinct.

It would seem that the move would be to get on the Guadalupe trail and take that "all the way" to San Jose Diridon, given there is only one train per hour to Santa Clara and they are all quasi locals. By "all the way" this involves riding through the SAP center somehow. I've done it the opposite direction, but only by following Richard Masoner, who is copied here, and has better knowledge of the area.

Thanks Murph.

Looks like its the same distance, but the train leaves 10 min earlier. Goog tells me to take Brokaw to Airport then hop on the trail...I'm not sure "bad" bothers me. i do play in traffic on a daily basis...

Richard,

Any suggestions...

Sadly, I might have to drive anyway...

Brokaw to the Guadalupe River Trail is easy, even where it passes under Highway 101. Bike lanes the entire way, just watch for hooks.

I second Murph's vote for Guadalupe River Trail to San Jose Diridon vs Santa Clara.

Bret, if you insist on Santa Clara Caltrain, Google suggests Hedding to SCA. Hedding west of Coleman Ave requires assertive lane positioning on a partly non-shareable lane in fast, heavy traffic if you want to avoid getting squashed, especially where it passes over the Caltrain tracks.  I know

+1 for Guadalupe River Trail to San Jose Diridon vs Santa Clara

Here's my usual route, it's super easy to connecte GRT to Diridon: https://www.strava.com/activities/341329918

+1 for GRT to SJ-Diridon. I have also taken Hedding across the Caltrain tracks coming from Park Ave and found it quite deserted when I've biked in around 10am. But if you're commuting in the afternoon, I imagine GRT would be a more pleasant experience and gives you the added bonus of picking any train you want.

Here's my regular commute to Diridon, there's a very short dirt section after the trail comes out to Autumn St and the street ends, then I take the first right after the dirt to come out onto N Autumn St to cross Julian (strangely N Autumn St is south of Autumn St).
