Hi,

I need help to understand about the changes that firefox is  brinigng with plugins/add-ons. I use selenium and was worried about this.

"Mozilla announced that by the end of 2017 they will stop supporting any plug-ins/add-ons for Firefox that use XUL or XPCOM.  (Source:https://wiki.mozilla.org/Add-ons/developer/communication#4.29_Has_XUL_or_XPCOM_add-on)

It appears that Selenium IDE uses XUL/XPCOM.

I have the following questions:

a) Is there a plans in the Selenium IDE open source community to transition the IDE code to use WebExtensions?
b) If Selenium IDE will NOT be impacted by the 2017 deadline from Mozilla, can you please help me understand why?

Thanks in advance for helping with quick answers."

It seems Selenium IDE will be impacted indeed. and the fact that no-one answered this topic in over a year seems odd.
Is the plan to let the plugin die or is an effort planned to port the xul/overlay based add-on to a webextension?
