Selenium beyond test automation

Would it be advisable to use Selenium to automate browser-based work?

Say an employee logs into a browser-based platform that contains sensitive information. He or she must navigate the pages and copy/paste some data. So I wonder about security and stability.

I am looking for tools to automate enterprise procedures and until recently focused on big packages like UIPath, Workfusion, BluePrism, etc. These packages are expensive and I would much rather code in Python than some graphical interface.
