Hello scrapy and scrapyd users,

Today, we are releasing scrapyd-1.2.0 alpha 1.
This new release will introduce several features,
the most important being full python3 compatibility
put together by scrapy developer Paul Tremberth.
Other updates include
some deprecations and more configurability.
A full list of updates and enhancements
will soon be published here and in the changelog.

Pre-releases are not considered ready for production environments.
Personally however, I think slightly-experienced scrapyd users
will have no trouble trying it out in a well-monitored system.
The scrapyd codebase is small
and the updates in this release are unlikely to break anything.

You can install this release with: `pip install scrapyd-1.2.0a1`
Any new pre-release will be announced directly here, until we reach 1.2.0

We invite all scrapyd users to try it out
and report any bugs
in scrapyd's issue tracker https://github.com/scrapy/scrapyd/issues
or in this mail thread.

There is a mistake in my announcement,
the correct command to install is:
pip install scrapyd'==1.2.0a1'
