Congratulations to your sciruby on getting selected for GSOC 2015!

I am a Sophomore at Texas A&M University and looking to contribute to your organisation. I would rate my competency level in C++ as intermediate. I have been programming in C++ since three years.

I am interested in working on MATH API projects with the pjotr prins and maurice diamantini. Let me know what are you looking for in a candidate and what are the requirements one must satisfy to work on this project?

I am excited to make a contribution to sciruby. Looking forward to talk to you.

Thank you,
Kaivan Shah

Hi Kaivan,

Nice to see a fellow Texan here (though I'm a Longhorn, not an Aggie, sorry not sorry).

To which project are you referring? I see two which Pjotr and Maurice are mentoring, and neither of them have the title you gave.

Hi John,

haha! Well we are texans but y'all can shout whoop! I love Austin, I have been there twice and it is great. So lively.

I am referring to the project where we will be using LEMON C++ graph library. On the ideas page it is the second from the bottom.

Bonjour Kaivan,

I suppose you are interested in the C++ Lemon binding (the only GSOC proposal
under the "MATH API projects" section).

In this case Pjotr is the main mentor. But I can give some ideas for starting
working on it:
- start by installing lemon and playing with the C++ examples (for graphs
  and Linear Programming),
- guess how you'd like to write the equivalent examples in Ruby
(look after other existing Ruby API, ...),
- then one probably should define two levels of the ruby API:
  - the low level ruby lemon API which should follow as much as possible
the Lemon API. The idea is that it should be relatively easy the update
this low level api when Lemon evolves (possibly automatically by script?)
  - the high level more rubyish API.

Regards,
-- Maurice
