My now-estranged progeny were born in 1983 and '84;
early 1988 ( Provo Utah ) was the last time they conversed with me.
They're both doing well, I'm to be a grandpa ( G-Pa ) this March.
I have 1,800 dollar hospital bill ( and no other such bills )
which may or may not be dismissed for “ hardship ” reasons;
the paper work is progressing very slowly.
They think I can't live on 500 U.S. dollars per month
when my rent is 430 ( utilities included );
so I have to explain to them how I do it.
The bill is from waking up one morning with powerful lower-back cramps.
I couldn't even roll over; nor could I stand up, due to nausea.
Although I was grounded, my adrenaline was pumping, sweat was pouring;
it felt like I was going to die... my hands were numb.
Although it might've been something like “ insulin shock ”,
it could've been from the huge cigar I smoked the night before.
( A friend smuggled-in a Cubano cigar for me from Nicaragua )
If this ever happens to me again,
I won't go to the hospital... they were no help.
Two friends of mine ( Rudy and Mike ),
poor like me, work day-labor sometimes.
The working conditions are horribly dangerous at times.
Once they both wound up in the hospital after a 12 hour shift
from breathing-in zero-degree air, damaging their lungs,
and from wearing boots that cut into their feet.
Rudy's bill was 14 thousand dollars, and he might have to pay it.
His take home pay for those 12 hours was just 23 dollars,
( he owes child-support ) barely covering the cost of fuel
to the work site and back ( Everett to Seattle and back ).
Does this make sense to you, Mariposas_Rand ?
