Edgerton built upon the work of a prior scientist/engineer, IIRC, his
last name is Talbot (?). I don't feel like Googling, just now. Anywho,
Talbot took single stills of very fastly moving, mostly spinning objects.

Edgerton advanced Talbot's work by taking hundreds++ of frames per second,
both in the visual spectrum and later in the audio spectrum. Great stuff!

for making "instantaneous" pictures. YMMV. Internet, afterall...

SDI (star wars) ...Hell yes! I was THERE! I was using a camera we
borrowed from some old government warehouse (hardly state of he art)
that took millions and millions of frames a second.
