The problem is the sound is intermittent; mostly off. The television
has audio input jacks (it's stereo) and when audio is presented there,
such as with a VCR, and the TV is used as a monitor, the sound is fine.
This implies to me the audio amplifiers and speakers are OK, and the
problem must lie before these blocks. I haven't found any bad traces
in the system board, and when I get the back off of the unit to try
to track down the bad component, the problem decides to go away until
I put the back on again.
My brother-in-law has the same problem with a similar model NEC TV.
Are there known issues with these TVs? Does anyone have ideas for
a better debugging method than poke-and-hope?
Thanks in advance,
