They appear to be doing research on the possibility of creating a tool to better manage their own environment.

If Amazon launched a native service as a substitute for the product you’re using currently, would you prefer Amazon's new service over 3rd party solution?

Scalr is mentioned specifically in this survey, and Amazon is inquiring about a multi-cloud, cloud management platform.

It would be about time! Their console doesn't scale to large amounts of users.
