Hi,

Kindly help us to understand if there is any option to migrate the data from Scalr from Ubuntu to Redhat 7.

We face more issues with Ubuntu so we would prefer Redhat for launching our instance in Scalr.

All farms which are available needs to be there if we migrate to Redhat.

Regards,

Hi Arun,

Are you looking to change your Scalr server from Ubuntu to Redhat, or are you meaning you want to change your Farm Role configuration to launch Redhat servers instead of Ubuntu servers?

Many thanks,

Yes am looking for migrating SCALR from Ubuntu to RedHat Linux.

All farms & role should remain as before it was.

Hi Arun,

This would be the same process as a re-install of Scalr or installation on a new node.  You will need to backup the database and all configuration files.  Then perform a fresh install of Scalr on your new host, stop all Scalr services, replace all the automatically generated configuration files with your backups, and finally replace your database with your database backup.  After completing these steps you will then just need to run scalr-server-ctl reconfigure.

I hope this helps.

Cheers,

Can you specify the configuration files & DB related files which need to backup. Such that it ll easy for us migrate.

Hi Arun,

Configuration files include /etc/scalr-server/scalr-server-secrets.json and /etc/scalr-server/scalr-server.rb.  You will need to create a backup of your Scalr MySQL database.  Some additional details are available within our Production Deployment Recommendations documentation.

Hi Arun,

Reminder, as described in our Production Deployment Recommendations documentation there may also be an additional optional configuration file etc/scalr-server/scalr-server-local.rb.  It is best to fully backup the whole /etc/scalr-server folder to ensure no relevant files are accidentally missed.

Many thanks,
