Hi All

The next milestone, 2.12.0-M5, is scheduled for May 27, and we're planning to make this
deadline!

M5 is the last milestone. For changes after that this means:
  - Only bugfixes, no new features
  - Binary compatible with M5 - we'll start tracking binary compatibility using MiMa
  - No more big refactorings

Note that there is a lot of work scheduled for M5 already:
  - There are currently ~30 open PRs in the queue. some of them need more discussion
or work before they can get in. We'll remove PRs with an unclear status (unfinished,
contraversial) from the the M5 milestone.
  - There are ~30 scala-dev tickets scheduled for M5 (this is our actual release planning
tool, not like JIRA whre the "Fix Version" is mostly wishful thinking).

In other words, if there's anything you'd like to get in 2.12, now is the moment to get going!
Any PR or scala-dev issue to be considered for M5 should be opened by the end of April.

Cheers!
Lukas

Hi All

2.12.0-M5 is getting very close! We missed the deadline mentioned in my previous
mail, but we plan to have it out early next week.

Some things to note
  - We changed the default milestone for new PRs to 2.12.0-RC1, so that we can
work on getting the queue for M5 down.
  - Some PRs will probably be re-assigned from M5 to RC1
  - We don't have a release branch, M5 will be tagged on 2.12.x. This means that
PRs that don't target M5 might stay in the queue for a while. We'd love to have
a release branch in principle, but it requires additional work to set up all the CI
for the new branch for which we don't have the time right now.

Cheers,
Lukas
