interface freeze on some right click items

With a clean (no plugins or anything extra) Eclipse install, I can safely hover over the "As" right click menu options (Coverage As, Debug As, Run As).  However when I install the Scala IDE, hovering over any of those items locks the interface for quite some time (many, many minutes or longer).  Has anyone else experienced this?  I'm hoping there's a way to fix it.
