Unable to unpack tomcat tar

Hi,

I'm trying to unpack tomcat into the /opt/ directory but am getting an error. My SLS looks like this:

I've confirmed that apache-tomcat-8.0.20.tar.gz does exist in my /srv/salt directory and that it is being copied over to minion1. The exact file and directory that Salt is complaining about on the minion ('/var/cache/salt/minion/files/base/_opt_apache-tomcat-8.0.20.tar') do indeed exist. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Calgary,

Did you verify that tar file is located somewhere where Salt can access(file_roots: base : .... for example) ?

Example master configuration
file_roots:
  base: 
    - /salt/binaries

apache-tomcat-8.0.20.tar.gz must be located in /salt/binaries

You can try to stop minion and delete files and directory in /var/cache/salt/minion/*

Hey Jack, thanks for the reply. The tar file is in /srv/salt which is where my SLS files are. Since this tar is being copied over to the mionion, I do know that Salt has access to it. The permissions on the tar are chmod 777 as well. Check out the string of commands I ran below. I stopped the minion, cleared cache on the minion, started the minion, then ran highstate again.

Which salt version do you use if you use salt version >= 2014.7.2

Use this option tar_options: xz instead of tar_options: z.

If this change doesn't work please provide your master configuration

I'm using version 2014.7.1. I tried tar_options: xz but Ièm getting the same error. Please see my session below. Ive also included my master config.

If you can try to update to version 2014.7.2 I'm pretty this version resolved your problem.
