I have minions (in the USA) that cannot connect to the salt-master (in Germany).
The analysis, performed by 3 service providers, makes no sense to me.

A colleague mentioned port-forwarding with rinetd to change ports 4505 and 4506 to well-known ports 8080 and 8081.

What are pro's and con's for attempting such a hack, please?

Thank you, Markus

The ports salt uses are configurable. Why not just set the master ports to 8080 and 8081 rather than dealing with port forwarding?

Hi Colton,
because I initially wanted to keep the ports 4505 and 4506 running, but I now want to find the underlying routing problem and I will not change anything on the application layer.
Thank you for your reply!
Markus
