2014.1.0 - Hydrogen - Released

We are pleased to the announce the immediate availability of the latest release of Salt.

This release marks a change in the release numbering, Salt will now be following a date based release number system, hopefully apparent from the new release number, and assigning code-names which follow the periodic table to each release (so the next release is code-named "Helium"). Hopefully this comes as no surprise since it was announced with the release of 0.17.0 that the numbering was going to change.

This release comes with many new features and substantially higher test coverage, it has already been deployed with some of our largest users who have been helping us test and refine the release to help mitigate zero day issues.

It is noteworthy that this release sees more commits and more community activity than any previous release and all changes are not covered in the release notes. Community members are, as usual, welcome to add information about their changes to the release notes.

Many packages have been prepared but we are still waiting on a few packagers. Packages are available in the usual locations for:

Fedora 19 and 20

RHEL 5 and 6 (Vial the EPEL repo)

suse/opensuse

Arch Linux (Now in Arch Linux community repo!)

FreeBSD

The maintainer for the Debian and Ubuntu packages should have them ready soon as well.
