sails with heroku

When deploying to heroku it says the 'express' module is not found, but it is in the package.json file in the sails folder.

If I add express and every other module to the package.json file in the root folder it then complains about socket.io missing redis.

I cant fix that because socket.io is in the modules folder which is ignored by Git.
