How to connect to IBM/Informix. ODBC connection

We are updating our UI and business rules process using node and it needs to talk to an Informix database. Odbc connections to our Informix server work with node.js but the coding is tedious (no pun intended). Can someone point me to an ODBC adapter for waterline, or a clear example of how to write one myself?

Seems like after doing this stuff for 50 years I'm a noob all over again.
