I've no idea, but searching for this tool took me to

looking at blame/log reveals some names …

What did you want to know about it?  I hadn’t heard of it before, but it’s just a brew cask which means that it downloads the disk image from sagemath and installs it.  So it’s just a convenient way to install app version.
