The reports are coming in thick and fast at the moment…

GULL-BILLED TERN – a single bird has been discovered this morning just upstream of Kalizo Lodge along the Zambezi River (Namibia) – reported by Mark Boorman.

RED-NECKED BUZZARD – still present this morning in the usual area around Melkhoutfontein near Stilbaai (Western Cape) – reported by Irene Rasmussen and Lynn Mair.

SPOTTED CRAKE
– still present this morning at Sappi Stanger along with the WESTERN YELLOW WAGTAIL (KZN) – reported by Johan van Rensburg.

Just some more news and updates received today so far:

 

AFRICAN FINFOOT – a single female bird has been seen and photographed this morning on private property along the Breed River close to Robertson (Western Cape), well out of range for this species – reported by Adrius Rabie, Frans-Hendrik Joubert and Andrew de Blocq.

 

EUROPEAN ROLLER – another bird has been seen this morning on Springfontein farm, just a little north of Grabouw (Western Cape) – reported by Rob Martin.

 

AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER – still present on Pan P2 at Strandfontein Sewage Works this morning. RED-NECKED PHALAROPE also still on Pan P1 and WESTERN YELLOW WAGTAIL seen on Pan P4 before it flew off in the direction of Pan P5 – reported by Trevor Hardaker.

 

GULL-BILLED TERN – what is probably the same individual that was present there in December was seen and photographed again this morning at the St Lucia estuary – reported by Andre Demblon.
