LESSER JACANA – a single bird has just been seen and photographed at the Northern Waste Water Treatment Works in Durban. Access is limited to the site and permission to enter needs to be sought from Thekweni Metro – reported by Bart Fokkens.

ALLEN’S GALLINULE – a juvenile bird was seen and photographed earlier today around the water recycle plant at Rossmund Desert Golf Course in Swakopmund in Namibia. Not only is this way out of range, but it’s also about as wrong a time of the year as one can possibly get for this species – reported by Neil McLeod via Dayne Braine.
