Howdy,

I've been using this Dell - Dell 1707FPT DVI LCD Monitor w/USB Hub -
with my Pi. I was thinking about getting a lot of 10 or 20 for the
space. The per unit cost is acceptable - but shipping doubles the cost
(and I haven't found anyone selling lots of these).

Might any of the Dell resellers in SA have these?

Randy - what about NEISD and auctions?

It is hit and miss and even less likely because of the specific thing and numbers. To get a flavor of the online offerings, here is the current listing for our district:

I think it would be better to try and contact the manager of this sale and express your interest. I don't know if he'd go for it but maybe. When he has the warehouse sales there are often tens of the same things. I've not seen monitors, though, recalling past sales.

I do want to remind everybody before they go out and buy some monitors to first try and find a home where these things can be stored when not in use.

Having enough computer set ups for a class is great, but if we have no place to store them  they would just in up in eveeybodies way when not in use.

Certainly! That is something that I would like to know as well. No point
in buying things that get chunked.
If 10bit wants to offer classes with monitors provided or provide
monitor use in space then those monitors will take up space when not in
use.

It would be fine, there's plenty of room and some potential room even.

Example of storage possibility:  There is a dead corner between the couches with  4ft x 4ft x 4ft of useless pallets.
Some maker person could . . . .

Since what were really after is just to give a screen to some pi's a small display could be used.

Those needing something bigger could bring their own, or adjust the sertings of their display.

GnuDon,

you could try to Goodwill on Blanco/410. They have a dedicated corner to computers and parts. Once a week or so they get a shipment from a school or office with lots of identical computers/monitors/etc. I would call and ask them about that.
