Don adapted his inner Christmas cube as an idea for the Witte’s Mayan exhibit.  We found a piece of Blue-Green Acrylic in the take-a-penny-leave-a-penny pile.  The Mayans didn’t have a word for blue, nor green, but they did have blue-green.

Burton Gilmore learned Inkscape on Wednesday and on Saturday he laser cut lots of miniature Shoji screens from 8.5x11 “chipboard”.  Chipboard is cardboard with a thick stiff gouache coat on one side.   He was having way too much fun with the little cutout scrap rectangles.  “Oo, oo, oo, I’m going to save these and use them for tiles.”

Sue burnished the edges of her hand-made leather belt.

Kevin smashed silver ring things with the new hydraulic press.  Needs work.

The Burbank H.S. boys soldered.

Jun got the nickel tour on Friday.  He laser cut a dime size face seal out of a sheet of nitrile.

A bench-top belt sander appeared, donated.  Thanks to, jeeze, we’re not sure to whom we owe thanks.  And there was a little grinder under the bench.  Same mystery source?

Sometime during the week, the lumber got taken down from the roof and then it was left as a mess on the grass strip beside McKinley.  Beware the nails.

Peggy and Militza water-colored.  Don started an oil copy of “Three Musicians" from Picasso’s cubism period.

Ken popped in with Ariana after her class.

Bruce and Charles played with things audiophile during their first Saturday XCSSA Meeting: Exotic Computer Systems of San Antonio

James got a new Pi Top and put it together. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWKa_SDRUSs

Samantha visited for the first time, invited by Jeremy, who was there.

Eddie visited for the first time, too. He wants to make a sheath for his scythe.  What?

Simultaneous with Saturday XCSSA in South San Stevanie styled scythe sheaths in the shade of silly sized Shoji screens.  Seriously?

And Burton Gilmore met some very intelligent people that he would not have otherwise met   while also  making some very hard to hand make precision parts for his new miniature palace.  Not to mention a lot of laughs .   I am extremely glad I joined

Ps here are two shots of some hand built pieces I got done after leaving Saturday – this is the bottom of a traditional Japanese fire pit hearth that I will build into the floor of the palace – the fire itself is just a flickering LED from a $1.00 store candle that I placed behind some red plexi – it really looks like a fire is burning when installed
