I've started work on the safety training for 10Bit - the stuff not covered by the training we are getting from the Power Tools Institute.   As part of that, I'd like to propose these 3(+) basic rules and I'd like to get feedback.

The space itself in general has only a few rules. Some of these are embodied, in long form, in the Code of Conduct. You will see the Code of Conduct posted in the space.

But these rules are fairly short and simple:

  1. Be courteous to each other: listen to criticism without rancor, offer advice when asked, and treat each other with respect.
  2. Remember that this is a shared space: someone else will be here after you are. Think of this not only for cleanliness’ sake and overall shop up keep, but also think about sharing your skills and discoveries with others
  3. BE SAFE and HELP OTHERS BE SAFE

There is one other rule that we’ve learned from Artists Asylum… a rule they call “Rule 0”

0. Don’t make us make a new rule!

That said, there will be other rules… these are just the basic makerspace wide rules. We will have rules for hardware use, both general and specific, and for things like maintenance. Oddly enough, all of those rules really fall in to the 3 basic rules.
