Today i have an almost feature complete version of the rewrite of the application.
Most notable features are:
* F2L algorithms.
* Permutation / Algorithm rotation.
* A fresh and responsive UI.

What's left on the todo list is to:
* Add pirating and tamper protection.
* Help and about screen.
* A lot of testing.

My plan is to release two versions one with and one without ads. Since this version isn't backward compatible I will release them as two separate applications.
IE the old version will still be on Android Market.

Except for testing there is only two more features that i would like to add to the application (which aren't features at all):
  • Application news
  • Statistics (it can be turned of in the preferences)
Also if anyone would like to help with testing of the application next week it would be appreciated greatly!

The rewrite is ready for testing!
I've send out some beta versions by e-mail and hopefully i can release before Christmas!

you could also send the test version to my email -> geocipher

I thought i sent it to you already?
Anyway, I'm releasing v2.0 of the ad-supported version tonight.
If everything goes smooth the ad free version is released this weekend.

cheers!

There I saw it. It got somewhere on my inbox. Will have a quick try before I sleep. Thanks!

Hi,

I don't know if its just me or what. But I can't add anything to the quicklist.
One more thing, when I rotate the image, yes the algorithm changes.
However, is it possible to have different rotations for every algorithm on the algorithm list?
Something like this

Rotation 1 - Algorithm 1
Rotation 2 - Algorithm 2
Rotation 1 - Algorithm 3

I would really be glad to pay for this functionality,
Thanks!

Hey,
I've noticed an error in my very simple documentation. You can't long press to add to the quicklist, yet :)
You want different rotation for each algorithm or a different algorithm for each rotation?

It's possible, but not a priority right now.
Thanks
Erik

Hi Erik

Sorry to confuse you. I would like "different rotation for each algorithm". :)

Very good job anyways, I love how rotation works and how the algorithm adopts to rotation.

Thanks!

"different rotation for each algorithm" is not too difficult, but it will have to wait until I've got the upgrade bugs ironed out.
Thanks, I'm going to improve the rotation so it can strip y-rotations from the algorithm.

I think the image panel width size on the f2l image is relative to the length of the algorithm where it should be absolute. As a result the f2l images are cropped on f2l cases with shorter algorithms. Thanks!

Thanks.
The bad news is that the size is absolute and i can't reproduce the error. Do you have a Nexus S? Cause that's where the error have been reported.

Anyway, I've release a bugfix. And now i plan to relax a bit before i go to bed :)

cheers

Hi Erik,

Where do I get to test the latest with bug fixes, is this in a repository or something.

Thanks!

Well the latest is actually in Android Market :)
I've got some issues to work with until i release the adfree version.
* The image render problem
* Make the navbar bigger and better
* Some strange NPE and database problems.

Cheers

Hey,

thanks for the work, I really appreciate the app. I use version 2.02
on a Samsung Galaxy SII running Android 2.6.35.7 (Gingerbread.XWKI4).

Sadly I have a problem rotating OLL and PLL algorithms. I tried it
various times, but the "algorithm rotation" works the other direction
than the "problem rotation", i.e. when I rotate the picture on the
screen clockwise I get the algorithm rotated counterclockwise. This
happens with OLL and PLL algorithms, as well with built in as with
user algorithms.

Am I the only one having this problem?

Cheers,
zr0

Hey,
No this is probably a bug. Come to think about it I've only tested 180 degrees rotations which wouldn't detect the problem. I'll verify this problem and fix it as soon as possible.

I'll keep you posted, thanks for the report!
Regards
Erik

Yes, this is a bug and I've fixed it.
A new version will be available this weekend just need to add a few other things as well.
cheers

I love this app. I use it every day. One request. I would like to rotate the image and add an algorithm for that orientation. It seems that a user algorithm gets changed to match the default orientation. For example, if I rotate an image 45 degrees and add RUR', when the image is viewed the algorithm is changed to FUF'. I then rotate the image back to its default orientation, the algorithm is RUR' and incorrect. Thanks!

Ah, this is a use case i haven't considered when writing the code for the rotation.
Unfortunately my computer at home crashed, so it will take some time to fix this.

Great! Thank you!
Could you also look into the landscape view issue? Whenever an algorithm is rotated to the landscape view, the bottom half of the image is cut off. I am using the paid version of the app on an HTC EVO. thanks again.

I think that the very first built-in algorithm for the E Permutation should have a y or y' at the beginning?

I'll add it to my issue list. I'm still without a computer at home but i've ordered a new motherboard. Soon i'm back in business again :)

Hi Erik,

It's been a year, I hope you don't mind these suggestions.

* When adding an Algorithm, I hope there would be an option to set the default rotation for each of the Algorithm added. If the LL Image is rotated, it will gather the algorithms for that rotated case, if there is none it will be converted ( as what the app is doing right now).
* I hope we could mark the Algorithm we are done with (memorization aid)

Again, I would be donating as much as I have to get this feature implemented.

Some (Nice to have):
* Export algorithm collection into PDF
* Export/Import alg collection using xml (or a format you prefer)

Hope you had a wonderful vacation/holiday,

Hello,

I've pretty much stopped developing the app, because i don't have that much time anymore. The export feature would be cool, or maybe export to a Google Doc but you can find that online :)
You can mark algorithms as favorites, so this is kind of "memorized" right?

I wanna can add my versions of algorithms and possibility to edit it etc. I think that it be for ever rotation - I know best algorithms and wanna use it in your program)

Hi Aivan,
are you still using the app? :)
I'm thinking about implementing the "memorization aid" feature using image overlays or dimming the images. What do you think?

My bursts of inspiration comes about 2 times a year it seems :)

regards
Erik

Not sure if i know what you mean, but you can add custom algorithms.

Hi Erik,

I am still using this app, this is such a very late reply. That sounds great. I thought you stopped developing the app, if you do I would recreate a similar app on my spare time and add my own features.

Thanks,
Aivan
