Hello Woodworkers,

This spring red rocks is pleased to offer violin making once more, register asap if you are interested!

Violin construction is a 6 credit lutherie build eligible for a certificate and a great way to fill out your lutherie credits. The class is primarily hand tool focused and includes skills related to carving, inlay, arch top guitar, mandolin, and the use of knives as a versatile go to hand tool. If you are not an instrument maker and you still want to learn scroll carving for your furniture and sculpture, there will be an option to carve a series of scrolls at a 6 credit work load to polish your carving skills. Stay tuned for an updated course description or contact John Orth.

Keep in mind:

- This is the only violin making course in the state

- Red Rocks is the only accredited institution offering Lutherie courses in the US

- This is one of few projects that can be replicated using only the tools you buy for the class!

- Register EARLY to make sure the classes you want are offered

I am super interested in taking this class but am wondering if there is a plan to ever offer it during the evening sessions in the future?

This statement is not correct. There are several. I have been contacted by some of them since leaving RRCC and am currently helping Danville Community College in Virginia start their lutherie program.
