Yes, in planning stages but hoping to serve meals at 2 or 3 locations (maybe 96 or 87, 59, 25 sts). We are confirming details tomorrow. We hope to have food for several hundred people. David s

Hi David,

Let us know what your plans are. We are going to continue running our hot food delivery kitchen on Thanksgiving and are going to be delivering cooked thanksgiving meals door to door. Can use more Turkeys if you have extra, and dont want to overlap with building or areas you're covering, so let us know where you'll be.

In fact, Robyn, OV has a space once occupied by a chinese restaurant which you should look at as a possible longer term kitchen; the developer would be interested.

I am working with David on organizing a big thanksgiving and looks like we have access to a huge quantity of frozen turkeys. I am sure that there are many extra to give you! will be in touch later today.

Hi Sandra,

Yes, we are actually working with David Selig, Zoe, as well as a few people in the city on possibly getting a Thanksgiving feast happening in three locations spread out in the Rockaways. Will try and figure out better the logistics tomorrow, so can give more details then. For now we just have several big donations confirmed and will also have a fundraiser happening this Sunday.

Besides our efforts, I only know so far of a Thanksgiving happening at the Imperial Room in Inwood.

Let me know if you feel like joining forces or have any ideas on this!

Hello everyone
how are you? I am writing because we are organizing a very big thanksgiving feast in the Rockaways. We have a plan to prepare about 1500 meals for Thanksgiving, in 5 different locations and have approximately 200 turkeys to cook. We urgently need STORAGE for 150 turkeys (will arrive on Tuesday) and COMMERCIAL KITCHENS that can help cook them so I was wondering if you can help and/or have any suggestion.
It would be great to know, it is a lot of food and any help is welcomed!

Hi everyone!
We are putting together a really big thanksgiving feast for the rockaways and we would love your HELP as we are planning to feed about 1500 people.
For the moment we have the turkey covered but we would love help covering the following:

Green Beans
Mashed Potatoes
Gravy
Cranberry Sauce
Stuffing
Pumpkin Pie
Hot Tea/Coffee/Kool Aid/Pepsi/Sprite/Apple Juice

let me know if you can help with any of these. In case we are going to have ingredients and items donated as well that we can pass over to be cooked but I am not sure of how many yet.

Do you have access to freezers? We just had a truck pull up with huge quantities of frozen food to be donated like pot roasts and breaded chicken etc.

hey y'all-

can you please send me a detailed list of locations that will need non-perishable food items, as well as, raw ingredients? (besides the thanksgiving request samantha already sent me)? i need locations/quantity/delivery day/window of time. i am overseeing city harvest's food flow into the rockaways and want to make sure we are getting food where it is most needed/not available through other sources. i am only on the ground a few days a week, so your help is much needed, especially as sites change constantly.

i am putting in a truck/food load request for the week first thing tomorrow morning-so it would be amazing to have your input then.

Okay, so I am working to get enough trays of stuffing to feed 500 people.  Any offers of cooking beyond that, would it be easier to stick with one dish, as in, keep asking people to prepare stuffing, so you know that one thing will be taken care of, or would you like me to start working on another side.  Personally I feel it would be easiest to keep track of, if each person commits to one dish, so we don't have overlap of one dish and scarcity of another. Just a thought. If I work hard enough with my contacts, we might be able to get 700-800 servings of stuffing or more!
 
I am going to transport everything down from CT on Thanksgiving. So a couple questions. 
1.)What time is the dinner?  Are there ovens for reheating?  Coming from CT, the dishes might need some heating (but if that's not possilbe, that's why I chose stuffing.  It's good even lukewarm)
2.)Where am I delivering?
3.) What do you need in terms of service volunteers?

sorry for emailing everyone again but we still need help with side dishes for thanksgiving!

We are going to feed 1500 people on Thursday and we are planning to get a menu of: mashed potatoes, green beans, cranberry sauce, gravy, pied (pumpkin and others). But we would not say no to other greens, salad, corn bread etc etc
What we have covered so far is

- 1100 stuffing
- 400 mashed potatoes
- 800 green beans

So if you can help us with anything on this list / thanksgiving related, that would be wonderful!

hi all-

first off, y'all are amazing. really.

we (city harvest) are also working with a large donor/restaurants to try to get a thanksgiving meal out to folks in rockaway. i would love to find a site where we can prep/warm hot food-but also fill in the gap in an area that doesn't have anything else planned. can you send me ideas of locations that may work for this? i will coordinate with my team this weekend.

other possibility is us bringing out a mobile kitchen. so, besides st. francis (who i'm in touch with) if there are other large areas this can be set up, preferably near a tent/area folks can sit and eat-please send along also.

Would you mind updating the numbers for each dish as they change (or delegating someone to do so)?  This way, the rest of us on the list will know what continued needs are.  If, for some reason, we are able to meet the 700 stuffing servings and still have people wanting to prepare food, it would be great to know what the needs still are.  Thank you so much for everything you are all doing!  Each of us is just playing a part!

APPROXIMATE NEEDS:
1) 100 servings of stuffing
2) 600 servings of green beans
3) 600 servings of mashed potatoes
4) 600 servings of long beans
5) 1200 servings of cranberry relish
6) 1200 servings of gravy
7) ingredients for turkey cooking: salt, pepper, onions, sprigs of rosemary, butter, soy sauce, mirin, celery
8) Any other 'thanksgiving' donation helps (pies, cookies, soda, etc.)!
9) Any other veggie, etc.

Please let me know if it makes sense!

I just spoke with the site coordinator of St. Gertudes 
He said it is possible to use St. Gertrudes or St. Marys as a mobile kitchen. I sent over two tents and two gas propane heaters last week and they have access to more tents if need be. Contact Greg (617) 997-7472 and he will work out the details with you.

Hello everyone

I just wanted to drop a quick line and THANK YOU so much with all my heart for all the help each of you has given to make this past Thanksgiving happen. It would have never turned out so wonderful, heartwarming and delicious had it not been for all your incredible help and contributions.

I am still in awe and amazed at the quantity of quality of support was received to make both Thanksgiving and the past weeks' hot meals happen and I am so grateful that I had this possibility to see how many good people are out there ready to help and offer their hands...

I really hope we will continue to help the Rockaways all together for as long as it's needed!

Hi Zoe,

The mobile kitchen reply was in response to City Harvest's request for a possible location to set up a mobile kitchen for Thanksgiving only. St. Gertrudes does not have refrigeration. I planned their Thanksgiving dinner and door to door deliveries yesterday, the church staff and site coordinators said they do not need hot food or outreach at this time, there is plenty of things lined up at this time.
