Is there a plan for RParquet on the lines of RAvro?

Lot of big companies and startups are using parquet. My company uses parquet format heavily for data warehousing.

Is there any ongoing effort to have an RParquet package on the lines of RAvro?

I would be very happy to contribute to it.
