Starting R and Hadoop

Hello Guys

I am new on Hadoop / Map Reduce in R.

I have certain experience o R but is new on Hadoop and MapReduce.

I hava found a lot of versions of rmr and many documents, some works and anothers did not.

So, restarting I would like to know:

1. What is the best and stable version of rmr to work  as a single node?

2. Is a good idea to start with a sandbox like hortonworks 1.2, 2.1 or 2.2 ? Are they stable?

3. This wiki https://github.com/RevolutionAnalytics/RHadoop/wiki is a best way to start a tutorial?
