Hello everyone,

I'm Arnaud Lauret, IT architect in Paris, France at AXA Banque France (subsidiary of AXA insurance group).
I'm interested in everything around API from provider to consumer and started to blog about it a month ago as the API handyman to share my views and experiences on the API (battle)field.

I had the great pleasure of meeting Mike Amundsen Tuesday in Paris at API Connection event and we discussed about my last posts concerning HAMM (Hypermedia API Maturity Model).
Mike told me that I should come to REST Fest 2015, so I talk about this to my company's CTO who said "OK! You'll go. Get the details for preparing your trip".

I'm really happy to be part of this great event and I'm looking forward to seeing you all in Greenville in September!.

Arnaud.
PS: How to pronounce my name for english people: R-NO LO-RAY
PPS: Sorry if you are now humming Rolling Stone's Sympathy for the Devil after reading email title

great to see you here and will be coming to RESTFest 2015.

Benjamin: do we have a list of recommended hotels (maybe form last year)?

Anyone coming from overseas want to give advice on flying into GSP? best way to go? other locations?

I'm not from Paris but fly there semi-regularly for work. From Paris you'll take Air France through Atlanta or Detroit. I prefer Detroit, but Atlanta's been getting better for customs. : )

If it's not too expensive (Euro took a dive), the Westin Poinsett is the absolute best bed in Greenville and right downtown. We have Uber now, so getting there isn't an issue. It's much cheaper than any comparable hotel in Paris, and I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay!

IIRC, hotel rooms may be in short supply this year due to another event that same week in the city.

if you plan to attend, i encourage ppl to sign up for rooms ASAP. I've already booked my rooms for that week.

Ok, I'll see with my company to get a flight and book an hotel quickly (Next week I hope).

Arrival on Wednesday (September 16th), departure sunday (September 20th).

For the flight
- from paris (ORY or CDG)
- to greenville GSP
- I'll have one stop in detroit or atlanta.

For the hotel, I'll see if I can book at
- Westin Poinsett
- Hampton Inn downtown
- Courtyard
- Hyatt regency
- Holliday Inn?

Few questions:
-Mike (and others), which hotel have you booked for this year?
- Does the event will take place at the next innovation center like last year?
- Is it OK to walk from the Hampton Inn to next innovation center? (It's not far and I enjoy a good walk in the morning)
- I have a 2013 macbook pro with power adapter with a European plug, does anybody knows where I can get a US plug to use it in US? (The power adapter handle 110v and 220v)

i'm staying at the Hampton Inn downtown and that is easily within walking distance of the venue.

you should be able to pick up a universal adapter at any local electronics shop or online. i suspect they're for sale in major airports, too.

cheers.

Hi Arnaud

Several years ago, I stayed at the Westin and walked to the Next Innovation center every day.  The walk through Falls Park on the Reedy River is very nice in the morning, but then you have to cut through the South Carolina Governor's School grounds and then through a great big parking lot for the Greenville County municipal center which kind of cancels out the whole park experience.

Dont do like I did the first day and try to follow the trail the whole way down to where it goes under route 29 - you end up down in a valley next to the river and there's no way to get up to the road except to climb up through lots of bushes.

Arnaud-

For what it's worth, I booked the Holiday Inn Express downtown which has good reviews, though a bit further than the Hampton. Downtown Greenville is lovely.

Cheers

That's not the venue this year though. It's more central than the Next, on Main Street.

I'd recommend the Hyatt or Westin if the budget allows it. The courtyard has terribly noisy AC units.

Do someone has the exact name and address of the venue (for me "venue" means "the place where the event takes place"... sorry, English is not my native tongue :-)

Thanks.

Oops I should have read the "manual' first :-)
One last question and I think I'll have all what I need to organise my trip with my company:

How much do cost the participation? I have seen 50USD on the about page,  is it still this amount?

Thanks everyone for your previous answers.
