Hi All -

We have quite a bit of HD long format video to process and manage, I was thinking about setting up a standalone FFMPEG server to offload the media processing. I have yet to do that with ResourceSpace and can find little mentions of people doing it here and there but no real strong best practice type ideas. From looking at config it appears I just need to have a ready FFMPEG server available and point the application at it and I will try that, I was wondering if it is really just that simple or are there some steps missing that I am overlooking. If anyone has done this successfully your insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Yes, you can do this.

You can turn off preview creation on upload, then set up a ResourceSpace instance on a separate server that's connected to the same filestore and database, and run the preview creation on that.

We're moving to a job system for previews soon which will make this even easier.
