Hi
I have a problem seeing low level users upload their collections - having them set on private but are still public searchable ??

They don'y have admin access - all just low level users >>>?

This is supposed to be unsearchable right ??

Have a look to see if low level users have the 'd' perm set or the 'c' perm set.

Unless you have some specific settings, collections don't dictate if users can see resources in search results.

the collection of the low level user is private - that should dictate the access for the search part as per documentation?? the users have a "d" permission >

private collections won't come up in search results, but the resources in those private collections will.

maybe i misunderstood your original question...are you saying that other users' private collections are coming up in search results, or the resources within the collections?

Ha that is the difference I guess!
The results show up but not the collection itself

So the best way to make a resource exclusive is to set the access to restricted and the few people that need it get added via username >?

If you do not want resources to show in search results for low level or general users you can do a few different things...You'll have to decide yourself which method works best for your situation:

Resource Access Level = confidential or custom ( http://wiki.resourcespace.org/index.php/Resource_Permissions )

Contributor config setting (defaults shown):
# Should a user that has contributed a resource always have open access to it?
$open_access_for_contributor=false;

# Should the resources that are in the archive state "User Contributed - Pending Review" (-1) be
# visible in the main searches (as with resources in the active state)?
# The resources will not be downloadable, except to the contributer and those with edit capability to the resource.
$pending_review_visible_to_all=false;

# Should the resources that are in the archive state "User Contributed - Pending submission" (-2) be
# searchable (otherwise users can search only for their own resources pending submission
$pending_submission_searchable_to_all=false;
