Is there a way to make it so a global field displays for only 1 user group?

There is a Display Condition at the bottom of the field setup form, which I thought would do the trick. I tried putting in: usergroup=KOA (KOA being the name of one of the user groups we have). But that did not work (it actually hosed the upload page! LOL)

Any ideas? Is it possible?

You need to use the group permissions manager to handle this, making the group you want able to see the field, and all other groups set not to see the field:

One more question regarding this. Is there a way I can specify a certain option that is under a Global Field for permissions?

I have a client photo field (77) that I use to restrict access to photo sets- f77. And there are 12 options under this field  that are displayed as checkboxes. For 1 client user I need to further restrict access to a certain group of photos under #77. The options do not have numbers, so I'm not sure how I can do this, or if I can?

search filtering for resource groups does accept "!="

Thanks. I understand the concept here, but it is not working for me.

I added the Shorthand name for the field I need to use. Then I added the Search and Edit filter on the Group's page:

shorthandname=Product Name One|Another Product Name

Product Name One and Another Product Name both correspond to one of the options under the shorthandname Global Field.

I double checked that the test photo I want this user group to see is categorized with the 2 options (Product Name One and Another Product Name). But when I login as a user in this group, I see no photos at all. Nothing appears when I click on Recently Added, and if I do a search for Product Name One, nothing comes up.

Any ideas what I am doing wrong here??

You can't have spaces in shorthand names.

Thanks for the help Jeff.

The only shorthand name I am using is shorthandname which has no spaces.

The other ones I am using are both options within the
shorthandname field that I use to categorize images:  Product Name One and  Another Product Name (checkboxes).

I don't see a way to give these options short names. Am I missing something, or is it simply not possible to set up permissions so that a user can only view 1 or 2 Options from a field?

Shorthand names need to be unique for each field and are required if you want the field to show in advanced search. A good practice is to make the shorthand name similar to the field title (without uppercase, spaces, numbers, special characters, etc.). In your case, the field must also be indexed for the search filter to work.

Is it possible to get a few screenshots of your field settings and group settings to review?

Ah, I think I need to set it to index maybe. Here is a screen shot of the field settings, and also one of the group that I am working with:

Indexing worked! I set it to index (and then did the reindexing, and the correct images now display for that user group. Thank you for your help!!

Yes, set the field to index and use the "reindex this field" link above the dropdown.

Then, see if things work as expected.
