We are a "citizenship" refurbisher in NC. We currently have a number of
Lenovo T420 and X220 boxes that got Windows 7 last year through the
Registered Refurbisher program. We also have a collection of the same
models which have received Windows 10 this year using a set of Win 10
licenses we purchased through the same program. I have updated a few of
the Win 7 boxes to Windows 10. I find that they come up with Windows 10
activated. A check of product keys indicates the following:

For the original Windows 7 licensing:

Internet Explorer Key = "Key A" (the original licensing key supplied by
Microsoft for Win 7)
Windows 7 Key = "Key A"

After the upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10

Internet Explorer Key = "Key A"
Windows 10 Key = "VK7JG- ..." (the generic Windows 10 upgrade key)

The question is - do I now have a fully licensed and distributable
Windows 10 box that is on an equal footing (as Microsoft licensing terms
would see it) as the boxes that originally got a unique Windows 10 key,
even though the updated boxes have a Windows 7 COA sticker attached? I
have done a lot of Google searching and can't really find any conclusive
evidence for or against the validity of the licensing of the upgraded boxes.

Anyone else have experience with upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10
(with Windows 7 COA stickers attached) as opposed to starting with a
Windows 10 license (and Windows 10 COA stickers)? Am I staying within
the limits of the Citizenship refurbisher license terms?

Thanks,

Al Sudduth
