redis unistallation

i am new to redis and i used 

• wget http://download.redis.io/redis-stable.tar.gz
• tar xvzf redis-stable.tar.gz
• cd redis-stable
• make
• make test
• make install
• redis-server
• redis-cli ping -> pong(response)

the above method to install redis on a test server.

im receving an error on redis-server start 

Server started, Redis version 3.2.6

Can't handle RDB format version 8

Fatal error loading the DB: Invalid argument. Exiting.

if i remove the dumb.rdb it works but then the shutdown dosnt works 

need to remove the redis completley and reinstall the instance

i have tried 

yum uninstall redis

since i used make for creating redis - tried make uninstall, make -n install, etc.

so if anyone knows any other method please do inform me.
