Cool project. Idea for another column in the table - "back-translation" / "phonetic meaning"? Google Translate tells me "רדיס" means "Radice" in English. What's that? Radice is Italian for root, isn't it? I recall someone saying that in Russian, Redis is radish, and of course the English radice of radish is root at the radix.

So what is a "רדיס"?

רדיס in Hebrew has absolutely no meaning at all :) It is merely the phonetic transcript of Redis using the language's letters. This example should teach everyone not to count blindly on Google Translate.

As for Redis' meaning in other languages, perhaps you're referring to #RedisTriva "fact" #6 (https://gist.github.com/itamarhaber/16bdd432ee016c3dcdbc):

6. Redis means "repeat" (as in "say again") in French, "redistribution" in Catalan, "radish" in Estonian, "return" in Latin, "rediscount" in Latvian, "pens" in Portuguese, sounds like "radish" in Russian and Serbian and like "radishes" in Ukrainian (source: Google Translate)

This project is all about your ideas, so adding columns is definitely an option. However, to avoid featurecreep we need to be extra careful in what's added. Only today I had painstakingly altered the table's primary key and have added the Linguistic authority column - it felt necessary in order to be able to represent the 1:N nature of language variants. I'm not against your suggestion but I do want to get more feedback here to justify this change of API.

I was hoping you'd say it sounds like something involving a root vegetable. But surely it's not no meaning -- that would be a segfault. If we dereferenced and invoked רדיס I'd expect some serious רדיס-foo to commence. 

The interesting thing with Translate was that it suggested Radice rather than just passing "Redis" through -- as it seems to do (for me) for other made-up English-ish words.

Great list, didn't know of it! (Number 41 makes a good mascot.) My source was somewhere on this group actually.

cool project!!!, but unfortunately in my language(Korean) There are too many script literal(we can tranlate it to many) so. it is too hard to make script literal. But I hope this project gets many language's literal :)
