To enable auto rewrite of AOF

Hello,

I am maintaining a stand alone Redis instance having near to 30GB of data in memory. AOF was enabled, but without auto rewrite. The aof file is growing fast and is now close to 250GB. 

What would be the impact if I enable auto rewrite, I mean would it cause redis to stop accepting client connections ?

I am thinking to enable auto aof rewrite by setting  auto-aof-rewrite-percentage to 50.

Any advise will be of great help.
